The 3+1 B.A. in Fitness Management degree provides graduates the required knowledge and skills needed to assess medical histories and fitness testing to determine individuals’ health related fitness needs, help individuals design and implement exercise programs, help create nutritional and lifestyle plans to improve health, and monitor progress. In addition, it will enhance graduates’ ability to communicate effectively with clients and participants in a variety of fitness related settings, and to demonstrate leadership in both program and facility design and development.

This major will provide students interested in careers in the fitness industry a low-cost bachelor’s degree option through collaboration between Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) and Rowan University. During the first three years of the degree program, students will complete courses at RCSJ and will finish their final year at Rowan University. Students will be charged the RCSJ tuition rate for the initial three years and Rowan University tuition rate for the final year. This unique 3 + 1 educational program will provide an accessible, high-quality educational experience that will prepare students for careers in the fitness industry at a significant cost reduction compared to traditional 4-year programs.

Careers include: Managing and directing commercial and community based fitness facilities; Strength and Conditioning Specialists; and Owning/Developing private fitness facilities. Students are prepared for national professional certifications that are required in the industry.

The B.A. in Fitness Management is a full-time program offered at our Rowan College of South Jersey campus and our Glassboro, NJ campus. Enrolling into this program would require completing coursework at both our Rowan College of South Jersey and Glassboro campuses. It requires the completion of 120 semester hours.

  • Graduation / Exit / Thesis Requirements: Students must have been accepted into the 3 + 1 program and complete all coursework for the BA in Fitness Management and the program requirements of the 120 credits for this major with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. These requirements include no courses with a grade below a D- and no incomplete grades.
