B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology

Program Information

The Rowan Experience
Open Close

The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering has partnered with Rowan College of South Jersey to establish South Jersey’s first four-year Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program. The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) is a four-year career-oriented hands-on degree program.

Owing to the broad nature of the MET program, graduates will have a variety of careers open to them. These include work in designing and developing products, machines, and processes, as well as manufacturing, operations, or technical sales. Industries that hire mechanical engineering technologists include transportation, power, climate control, machine design, manufacturing, materials, and automation. The MET program is offered jointly by Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) and Rowan University as a 2+2 program, with the first two years of coursework delivered by RCSJ faculty and the final two years delivered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rowan University.

The new MET program has many innovative features that make it unique, including Engineering Technology Clinics. The 8-semester Engineering Technology Clinics are modeled after Rowan’s hallmark Engineering Clinics, which provide students with a truly hands-on, interdisciplinary design and development experience on real-world problems. The curriculum also includes several strategically selected and designed courses, as the BS MET Curriculum details. The MET program provides the cost-effectiveness of completing the first two years at RCSJ and gives them access to all resources Rowan University has to offer once the students reach their junior year. The MET program will provide access to modern laboratory facilities to ensure students are familiar with the current state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation.
