M.A. in Higher Education: Administrative Track

The M.A. in Higher Education Administrative track is designed to serve both those without any experience in higher education administration but who aspire to careers in that field, as well as those who are already practicing administrators in a college or university who wish to upgrade their skills. Graduates of this program go on to careers in student affairs including residential life, admissions, academic advising, student activity planning and programming, judicial affairs, and service learning/volunteerism.

Curriculum

This is a 36 semester hour (s.h.) program and includes a common core (24 s.h.) of courses as well as a culminating seminar/internship sequence (6 s.h.) in which all students are required to enroll. The remaining 6 s.h. may be selected from a multidisciplinary bank of courses offered by departments within the colleges of Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Business and with the advice and counsel of the program advisor. All students are expected to work closely with the program advisor in determining course selection and the appropriate sequence for course enrollments. All students are also required to complete a major research project as part of their culminating sequence of courses. This program does require a thesis.
