M.S. in Athletic Training

The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program at Rowan University is a rigorous and intense program designed to prepare students to take the Board of Certification, Inc., Exam and to become competent athletic trainers.

Our program prepares graduates to enter a variety of employment settings and to provide care to a wide spectrum of individuals who engage in physical activity, including:

• High School Athletic Trainer
• Collegiate Athletic Trainer
• Professional Sport Athletic Trainer
• Athletic Trainer for the Military
• Performing Arts Athletic Trainer
• Orthopedic Clinics
• Athletic Trainer in a Hospital or Clinic Setting

All native Rowan University students are required to complete a three-year Pre-Athletic Training Curriculum followed by the two-year (calendar) Professional Athletic Training Program. Students who successfully complete all components of the Professional Preparation Athletic Training Program (graduate) will receive a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training Studies and a Master of Science in Athletic Training.

The M.S. in Athletic Training program is a full-time program offered in a face-to-face format at our Glassboro, NJ campus. It requires the completion of 68 graduate semester hours (19 courses).

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional actions or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or will indicate any missing items.

• Completed Application Form
• $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
• Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
• Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
• Current professional resume
• Two letters of recommendation
• Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a major 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
• 50 Hours of Athletic Training Clinical Observation Hours. Students must complete all observation hours within an Athletic Training Clinic and have hours certified by a Licensed Athletic Trainer in order to be considered for acceptance to the Athletic Training Program.
• Current CPR card and First Aid certification
• Interview (Applicants will be contacted directly by the Faculty Admission Committee regarding the interview. The interview can be in person or via telephone.)
• Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the following undergraduate foundation courses at an accredited institution with a minimum grade of “C”.
