Pursuing a Master of Science (M.S.) in Finance is an exceptional investment in your career. Our program provides a rigorous, holistic academic experience that combines quantitative techniques with practical and professional application, as well as in-depth exposure to finance-related issues and research. The program is designed to prepare students for financial analyst and financial planner positions in corporations and financial institutions.

Coursework also helps students to prepare for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analysts) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exams, the premier certifications in the finance field.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Finance program at Rowan University requires the completion of 30 graduate semester hours (s.h.) made up of 10 courses. Students must complete the Foundation Courses listed under Admissions Requirements prior to matriculating into the M.S. in Finance degree program.

Admission Requirements

The following is a list of items required to begin the application process for the program. There may be additional actions or materials required for admission to the program. Upon receipt of the materials below, a representative from the Rowan Global Admissions Processing Office will contact you with confirmation or will indicate any missing items.

  • Completed Application Form
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
  • Current professional resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives
  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • GMAT (or GRE) is optional. Candidates with strong academic records, relevant professional experience, and/or that hold specific business-related credentials are automatically waived from the GMAT (or GRE); learn more about the GRE/GMAT waiver criteria. Candidates that do not meet the waiver criteria may want to submit a GMAT (minimum score of 450) or GRE test result to strengthen their application.
  • In order to ensure all students are equipped with key baseline and foundational business knowledge for graduate-level coursework in finance, Rowan requires all students to satisfy a set of Foundation requirements in the following content areas:

    • Accounting (Financial and Cost)
    • Economics (Micro and Macro)
    • Calculus
    • Principles of Finance
    • Statistics
